Death Duel with the Destroyers The Island of Doctor Apocalypse Villains and Vigilantes Collector Checklist |
The Dawn of DNA VillainsSome of the Errants were pretty cool too. I remember really liking Adonis, Mongo and Cockroach. They were classic eurotrash supervillains with a base in the Swiss Alps somewhere, so if you wanted to ham it up and do accents when you GM'ed, this was the perfect opportunity. Adonis' main power was his good looks, but he had a little bit of super strength too. Mongo was a big white bald guy, like 15' tall, who was basically simpleminded, strong, and hard to hurt. The real standout was The Cockroach, who was a former folk singer gone completely insane who now controls cockroaches who do his bidding. Kinda like an insane Ant-man with cockroaches instead of ants.
One of the other neat things about the Errants is that they weren't particularly competent. Most of the plot of The Dawn of DNA had to do with them mind-wiping way too many people in a town by mistake, which is of course what attracts the attention of the heroes. Another cool villain from The Dawn of DNA was Shee-Ariel, who was having some kind of thing with Adonis. She's buddies with Dr. DNA though, and that's how the Errants get involved in DNA's evil plan for world domination. (I read somewhere that Shee-Ariel was actually a player hero in the house campaign for Villains and Vigilantes, and that she became a villain after killing a villain and going insane.) The Dawn of DNA PlotlineThe Dawn of DNA plot had to do with a of mind control plot in the sleepy little town of Malton. Dr. DNA had some kind of pill factory where he was making pills that erased the memories of people who took the pills, and his plan was to use these pills to take over the world. (The pill rewrote the person's DNA, causing the memory loss.) Since the pill completely wiped out the victim's memories, if the victim didn't get retrained, he became a DNAzombie. Unlike most earlier Villains and Vigilantes adventures, The Dawn of DNA had several chapters instead of just 2 big chapters. I also remember The Dawn of DNA as the 1st Villains and Vigilantes scenario to come with the cool little cardboard counters that you could cut out and use instead of miniatures. The Dawn of DNA was probably the best scenario for the original Villains and Vigilantes game, even though Crisis at Crusader Citadel and Death Duel with the Destroyers were both great. This scenario just had more meat and was more like the types of scenarios we're used to in a more modern RPG campaign. |
